『DODO MEGURI』という名称は、「堂々巡り」という言葉から着想を得ています。

この言葉は“同じところ(考え)を何度も巡ること”を意味しますが、本ガイドでは「同じ場所を巡る」ことを、

人や場所と継続的に関わるための自然なかたちであり、そこに宿る意味をあらためて見つめ直しています。

現代の私たちのもとには、河川の氾濫のように、洪水のように、膨大な情報が絶え間なく押し寄せてきます。

その流れから完全に逃れることは容易ではなく、日常のなかで無意識のうちに情報の波に呑まれていることも少なくありません。

画面の中に存在するInstagramやTikTokといったソーシャルメディアは、生活に浸透したコミュニケーション手段とも言えます。

しかし、こうしたSNSが生み出す過剰な情報環境や先回りされたアルゴリズムから少し距離を取ることが、生活のリズムや人との関係性を見直すきっかけになる可能性もあると、私たちは考えています。

『DODO MEGURI』は、そうした観点から生まれた宮古島のローカルガイドです。

アナログな出会いや、身体感覚にもとづいた巡りを通して、島ならではのローカルコミュニティとの関係性を再構築することを目的としています。

繰り返しのなかで立ち現れてくる人との関係や、その場所が持つ固有の空気（=場所性）──それがやがて、

大きな渦のような、強度をもった「空洞」を生み出していく。そんなイメージをもとに構想を進めています。

本ガイドで目指すのは、日々のなかで繰り返される、抑揚のないフラットな時間です。

そこには、感動や絶望といった強い感情ではなく、静かに流れる日常の持続性や、人と人との関係の手触りがあります。

About 『DODO MEGURI』

We are constantly inundated with vast amounts of information, like river floods, like torrents. It is not easy to escape completely from this flow, and we often find ourselves unconsciously swept up in waves of information in our daily lives.

Social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok have become communication tools that permeate our lives. However, we believe that taking some distance from the excessive information environments and preemptive algorithms generated by such social media could serve as an opportunity to reconsider our life rhythms and relationships with others.

『DODO MEGURI』is a local guide born from this perspective. It aims to reconstruct our relationship with local communities through analog encounters and journeys based on bodily sensations.

The name『DODO MEGURI』draws inspiration from the Japanese phrase “dōdō meguri” (going around in circles). While this phrase means “going around the same place (or idea) repeatedly,” this guide reexamines the meaning inherent in “circling the same place” as a natural way of continuously engaging with people and places.

The relationships with people that emerge through repetition, and the unique atmosphere (sense of place) that locations possess—these gradually create a “hollow” with intensity, like a great vortex. We are developing our concept based on this image.

What this guide aims for is the flat, monotonous time that repeats in daily life. Rather than strong emotions like excitement or despair, there exists the continuity of quietly flowing everyday life and the tangible quality of human relationships.
