およそ60年の歴史を持つ「インテリアショップ みやび（旧・司の家具）」。
かつては自社工場で家具の製造も手がけており、時代の変化に応じて姿を変えながら、柔軟に歩みを続けてきました。
店主の下地健太さんは、売れ筋の動向や陳列構成まで目を配り、自ら商品を選定しています。
これまで、10年以上にわたってコンビニエンスストアの経営に携わっていた経験から、流通や売れ筋の動向も注視する養われた眼を兼ね備える。
島外や県外への出張時、家具職人の工房へ足を運び、家具制作に対する意識についてじっくりと向き合う時間も大切にする。
暮らしを司るカーテンやテーブル、ベッドといった家具から、ポップな雑貨、仏壇や神棚といった日々の生活に寄り添う品々を幅広く取り揃えています。
近年では、宮古島へ移住された方々の新生活をサポートする機会も増えており、島の気候に適したメンテナンス方法や通気性を考慮した提案など、信頼に足る視点で丁寧を心がける。
「単に家具を売るだけでなく、日々の暮らしそのものを豊かにしたい」と語る下地さん。
時が刻まれるということは、家具と共に過ごす時間の割合も必然的に比例する。
島の大地にしっかりと根を下ろし、地域とともに築いてきた歴史は、いまも確かな地盤として息づいている。

With a history spanning nearly 60 years, Interior Shop Miyabi—formerly known as Tsukasa Furniture—has steadily adapted to changing times.
In earlier years, the store operated its own furniture workshop, reflecting a tradition of in-house craftsmanship and an ongoing flexibility in its approach.
Owner Kenta Shimoji carefully curates the store’s offerings, keeping a close eye on trends and display arrangements.
Drawing on over a decade of experience managing a convenience store, he brings a well-developed sense of product movement and distribution to his current work.
During business trips, he often visits the workshops of furniture artisans, valuing the time spent engaging deeply with the philosophy behind handcrafted furniture.
From foundational furnishings like curtains, tables, and beds, to playful household goods, and traditional items such as butsudan (family altars) and kamidana (household shrines), the store offers a wide selection of products that accompany everyday life.
In recent years, more newcomers to Miyako Island have come to rely on the shop as they start their new lives.
With insight rooted in trust and experience, the team offers thoughtful advice tailored to the island’s unique climate—including maintenance tips and ventilation-conscious suggestions.
“I don’t just want to sell furniture,” says Shimoji.
“I want to enrich people’s daily lives through what we offer.”
As time passes, so too does the time we spend with our furniture deepen in meaning.
Firmly rooted in the island’s soil, the history built alongside this community continues to live on as a strong and steady foundation.
